Job Overview

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as needed.  Responsible for guest interactions and event coordination.  Responsibilities include serving food and beverage with friendly, individualized attention focusing on the company core values.  Assists with event set up and break down.  Supervises service staff throughout event service.  Works as a team to execute events that provide excellent customer service and an amazing guest experience. 

Experience

 

1 year experience as a server is preferred.

Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays based on business demands.

A working knowledge of the practices and procedures of safe food handling.

Excellent customer service skills.

Friendly demeanor and positive attitude.

Ability to work in a team.

For catering, must have a clean driving record.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

Maintain the highest quality and consistent customer service. Follows all company procedures.

 

Responds proactively to customer complaints.

 

Helps with phone calls and entering proposal information into Caterease software.

 

Maintains professionalism and is friendly and approachable towards guests and staff.

 

Posts BEO’s and oversees all functions per BEO and event coordinator specifics.  Reports directly to the Event Coordinators.  Must be familiar with all current and upcoming event details.  Acts as Event Manager when Event Coordinators are not present.

 

Responsible for serving events when needed.

 

Responsible for training new serving staff and managing day to day scheduling issues.  Works on creating a training a manual for catering service staff.

 

Responsible for ordering linens as needed.  (currently Wednesdays or Thursdays.)

 

Orders disposables as needed.  Currently works with vendors.

 

Coordinates with Event Coordinators to ensure that all rentals have been ordered for upcoming events. 

 

Coordinates with Event Coordinators to ensure that all alcohol orders have been coordinated through vendors.

 

Coordinate and pack in house rentals and maintain inventory.

 

Prepares, updates and posts daily load sheets menu signs and coordinates with Event Coordinators on the progress of these items.  Ensures that events are properly equipped and executed by transporting, pulling and setting up and breaking down, as well as returning equipment to designated storages in compliance with event standards and instructions.

 

Create server organization checklists so that serving staff can clean, organize and restock equipment/product when returning from catering events.  Organizes server stations and storage areas weekly.  Creates standardized packing lists.  Oversees packing on large events.

 

Responsible for making the function space visually appealing and presenting the menu offering for the event. Updates and posts menu signs.

 

Assists with set-up of tables, linens, chairs, etc. and coordinates staff to set up according to plan.  Assists with the design of buffet layouts, charts and décor.

 

Reports safety hazards to manager on duty.  Reports all employee accidents to manager on duty.

 

Have knowledge of food safety policies and procedures.  Have in depth knowledge of food preparation and presentation.

 

Maintain sense of urgency when on service floor. 

 

Responsible for the proper usage and good working order of all equipment, furniture and fixtures.  Reports necessary repairs to general manager and may help coordinate repairs as necessary.

 

Responsible for consistently implementing the service standards and operating procedures in banquet service.

 

Provide unique and creative ideas to enhance meetings & group experience.   Assists with bi-monthly staff meetings.

 

Must be able to safely operate catering vehicle and obey all traffic laws and safety procedures.  Assists with daily walkthrough of company vehicles.

 

Complete all other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

Education: Entry level position.  1 year related experience preferred.

Hours and Availability

Typical workweek: 35-45 hours

*May be more hours during high event seasons.
