Job Overview

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Performs all tasks associated with setting up, serving and breaking down of function rooms where banquet food service activities are performed. Responsible for the prompt, courteous, smooth and efficient service of food and beverage to guests during events. Works as a team to execute events that provide excellent customer service and an amazing guest experience.

Experience

 

1 year experience as a server is preferred.

Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays based on business demands.

A working knowledge of the practices and procedures of safe food handling.

Excellent customer service skills.

Friendly demeanor and positive attitude.

Ability to work in a team.

Must have a clean driving record.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

Maintain the highest quality and consistent customer service.

Read and execute specifications listed on the banquet event orders (BEO).

Attend all pre-shift meetings to ensure events flow smoothly.

Be in communication with banquet captain or catering operations manager regarding any special needs.

Responsible for making the function space visually appealing and presenting the menu offering for the event.

Assists with set-up of tables, linens, chairs, etc. and coordinates staff to set up according to plan.

Make required adjustments as necessary and relay that information to the appropriate personnel.

Maintain proper dining experience for guests, delivering items, fulfilling customer’s needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.

Greet all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting.

Have a good understanding and able to respond to guest’s inquiries on products and services.

Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.

Communicate any areas of need, problems and concerns from guest to banquet captain or catering operations manager.

Assist others with side work, including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking, folding, polishing silverware, etc.

Ensure that meeting rooms are re-set for the next event.

Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.

Reports safety hazards to manager on duty. Reports all employee accidents to manager on duty.

Have knowledge of food safety policies and procedures. Have in depth knowledge of food preparation and presentation.

Maintain sense of urgency when on service floor.

For catering, must be able to safely operate catering vehicle and obey all traffic laws and safety procedures and have a clean driving record.

Complete all other duties as assigned.

Education: Entry level position. 1 year related experience preferred.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use their hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. For catering, must be able to operate catering vehicle and obey all traffic laws and safety practices. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

 

Hours and Availability

Typical workweek: 20-40 hours. Hours vary depending on business demand.

*May be more hours during high event seasons.
