Barback Position

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Responsible for assisting bartender in keeping bar clean and well stocked. May learn bartending skills over time.

Experience 

 

Must be at least 21 years of age.

TIPS certification required.

Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays based on business demands.

Must be able to lift and carry cases of liquor, beer and wine.

Ability to anticipate bar needs and quickly fill them.

Friendly demeanor and positive attitude with desire to learn new skills.

Ability to work in a team.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

Follow all company procedures and health, safety and serving policies.

 

Keeps bar area clean, busses tables and bar area.

 

When appropriate, checks all customer identification to ensure they are of legal drinking age.

 

Learns from bartender on how to mix drinks, develop rapport with customers and other appropriate policy and procedures of the bartending position.

 

Becomes familiar with drink prices, ingredients, recipes and types of liquor.

 

Retrieves and stocks items for use in the bar using proper rotation and inventory procedures.

 

  1. waste and spillage and empties trash and transports to designated trash recepticles. 

 

Attends staff meetings as needed.

 

Washes glassware.

 

Prepares garnishes.

 

Replenishes all bar supplies and works with bartenders and bar managers to procure supplies as needed.

 

Changes beer kegs/gas and soda/syrup if needed.

 

Restocks beer and liquor refrigerators, refills ice bins.

 

Unloads merchandise received.

 

Anticipates bartenders needs and assists them.

 

Prepares bar for opening and closes down bar at the end of the day.

 

Maintains professionalism and is friendly and approachable towards guests and staff.

 

Assists with special events as needed. 

 

Greets all guests warmly and with an appropriate greeting. 

 

Adheres to grooming and appearance standards consistently.

 

Reports safety hazards to manager on duty. Reports all employee accidents to manager on duty.

 

Maintain sense of urgency when on service floor. 

 

Complete all other duties as assigned.

Education: Must be TIPS certified.

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use their hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. 

 

Hours and Availability 

Typical workweek: 25-40 hours 

*May be more or less depending on business need.

Evening and weekend availability is a must.

Benefits and Pay

Employees are considered “full time status” if the employee consistently works over 30 hours per work week. Benefits are offered to all full time employees after 60 days of employment, including medical, dental, vision and a free life insurance policy.

This position starts at $12.56/hr + tips.
