Kitchen Manager Position


The Homestead Collective is home to multiple concepts, such as Garden of the Gods Cafe, Till, Campfire Pizza, Dad's Donuts, and more! We are looking for talented, experienced Kitchen Managers to join our team. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for running all aspects of a kitchen while reporting to the Executive Chef of Homestead. Each Kitchen Manager will have their specific concept(s) they are experts in, but are expected to assist in all back of house operations. 


Job Overview

Directly responsible for the preparation and maintenance of quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness, training of employees in methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation and portion control. Works as a team to execute excellent customer service and an amazing guest experience. 

Experience 

2-3 years experience is required.

Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays based on business demands.

Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures. 

A working knowledge of the practices and procedures of safe food handling.

Excellent customer service skills.

Friendly demeanor and positive attitude.

Ability to lead a line team.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the entities’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.

 

Assumes responsibility for quality of products served. 

 

Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.

 

Make sure that the hygiene and food safety standards are met in all stages of food preparation, starting with the ingredients and ending with the finished dish which leaves the kitchen. 

 

Handles, labels, stores and rotates all products properly.

 

Writes the schedule for the BOH staff to be in compliance with labor budgets. Acts as the direct report for all BOH staff. Hires, trains and develops the BOH staff. 

 

Completes paperwork for BOH employees, such as time off requests, injury reports, attendance logs and disciplinary forms as needed.

 

Maintains professionalism and is friendly and approachable towards guests and staff. Oversees the training of kitchen staff in safe operation of all kitchen equipment and utensils.

 

Reports safety hazards to manager on duty. Reports all employee accidents to manager on duty.

 

Maintain sense of urgency in kitchen and keeps staff on task. Maintains a positive work environment, offers coaching and training to staff, leads by example.

 

Performs opening and closing duties to insure smooth transition between shifts. 

 

Writes prep lists, conducts inventory and places food orders as needed.

 

Ensures all BOH areas are up to code and in compliance at all times.

 

Complete all other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: This is an experienced culinary level position. 2-3 years related experience required.

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS 

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees to positively represent Altitude Hospitality Group.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to apply basic arithmetic to common food service applications: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to be adaptable to sudden changes in production plans, scheduling, and resource allocation, and adept at service recovery.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job functions are performed primarily in a clean, ventilated, well-lighted temperature controlled environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Hours and Availability 

Typical workweek: 45-55 hours for salary.

Hours vary depending on business demand.

Benefits are offered to all full time employees after 60 days of employment, including medical, dental, vision and a free life insurance policy.

 

This position starts at $56,500 - $60,000/year, based on experience
